Why I don’t flip out on Mako
First, and foremost, I will agree that what he did to both Korra and Asami was wrong and a real dick move and he should have taken responsibility for what he did when Asami confronted him about it. He should have decided what he wanted to do and then stuck with it, be it being with Asami or being with Korra. But it’s not a perfect world and no one should expect Mako to be the perfect guy.
1. When he started seeing Asami, it appeared to him that Asami was the Fire Ferrets ticket to the tournament so if he wasn’t with her, he would be betraying his team. Yes, this is a selfish thing to do overall but it’s a reason as to why he was with her.
2. Asami seemingly gave up her world for him. She turned her back on her father and to Mako that probably seemed to be because of her feelings for him and not for her dislike of the Equalists. I’m not saying it was right for Mako to think that she chose him over her father and not that she was just against the Equalists, I’m just saying that that’s probably what his thought process was. So it follows that his guilt made him stay with her which also explains why when a stronger feeling, his concern for Korra, appeared, he dropped all pretenses.
3. His kiss with Korra was a spur of the moment thing which was clouded by all of the things that were going on with Asami and everything. He should have taken responsibility and owned up to it but it was an impulsive action which, while something he clearly wanted to do, isn’t something that he should be held to completely at least in my opinion.
4. This is my most important reason and the one that’s the most general. EMOTIONS FUCK PEOPLE UP. It is very difficult to think clearly about anything when emotions are involved let alone act with impunity as well. He didn’t know what the fuck was going on in Korra’s head or Asami’s. He can’t see beyond himself so what he perceived as just showing concern for Korra, even though it was obviously so much more than that, was perceived as love by Asami and he reacted badly when he was confronted with that reality that he had not yet recognized. When the wool was removed from his eyes, he was blinded and lashed out if that makes any sense.
Mako is a young, stupid, claims to be selfless but is largely self-centered, teen. He made mistakes. He hurt both Korra and Asami and he needs to own up to that but all the hate doesn’t make any sense to me. He’s not a perfect person. He can’t see beyond himself and to expect him to be able to perfectly is not fair.
All I’m saying is that instead of being all like, “Mako is an asshole, he’s a piece of shit, etc” recognize that he isn’t perfect and what you’re expecting of him is kind of messed up. He’s in the wrong but he’s in a wrong that isn’t hard to get one self in especially in the situations he was in.
Btw, I’m not a shipper
I am geeking out so much right now

Was anyone else a little put off by Iroh’s voice? It seemed oddly high to me and it didn’t fit at least in my opinion. I understand why it was done as he is Zuko’s grandson but still, it seemed odd to me.
